Harokopio University of Athens is a public university dedicated to promoting research and learning in a small, well focused set of intellectual areas. The Laboratory of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry of Foods of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition of Harokopio University focuses on the chemical and physicochemical analyses of foods as well as on the beneficial health effects of specific foods and food components. The members of the Laboratory have attracted and carried through many research projects in the field of Food Science and Nutrition.

Antonia Chiou
Antonia Chiou (PI) is Associate Professor in Chemical Analysis and Synthesis. Her main research activities are focused on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of bioactive plant food constituents, with special interest on the Mediterranean foods. She has participated in a large number of national, international, or private funded research grants; as principal investigator she has coordinated several research projects, mainly in the field of Food Science and most of which related to Corinthian currants.
